Richard McLaughlin
Richard has been teaching Iyengar Yoga for over 13 years. He began his studies in Los Angeles, taking classes at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles (IYILA). His early teachers were Karin O'Bannon and Gloria Goldberg. He took his Iyengar teacher training course at IYILA in the 1990's under the direction of his main teacher, Manouso Manos. He is currently certified in the Iyengar system at the Junior Intermediate ll level.
He has travelled several times to India to study with B.K.S. Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar. He travels as often as possible to work with Manouso Manos who continues to inspire him. Richard has a large group of dedicated and loyal students; his dynamic and passionate teaching style attracts people of all ages and abilities! His daily asana and Pranayama practices are the constant source of his teaching as he continues to share what he learns with his students.
Richard and his wife, Emma-Jane, live in Santa Barbara with their 15 year old son.
Sue Elivique
Sue Elivique (formerly Sue Darling) has been studying and practicing Yoga for 15 years. Born and raised in London, Sue is a certified Iyengar instructor who was trained and certified at BKS Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles (IYILA). She has studied in India with yoga master BKS Iyengar, and with Geeta and Prashant Iyengar. She has also studied with many senior teachers, worldwide.
Sue lived and taught yoga in Los Angeles for years [including classes at Silverlake Yoga, Yoga Works, Brentwood Yoga and Center For Yoga, Larchmont] before moving to the West Indies. On the island of St. Lucia Sue opened her own yoga studio, Yoga Source St. Lucia, and also taught yoga at St. Lucia's Le Sport Spa Resort. She lived on St Lucia for four years, and introduced the practice of Iyengar yoga to first time practitioners of all ages and abilities.
Sue is known for her clarity and enthusiasm for Iyengar Yoga as well as her passion for teaching. "To reveal the essence of this profound practice to beginning students is such a privilege. Yoga enables everyone to attain mental and physical stability, and, as a result, our hearts open to many insightful possibilities."
Sue is also a Buddhist meditation teacher, currently studying at the Mahakanla Buddhist Center in Santa Barbara. She now lives in Santa Barbara with her husband and young son.
